Edmonton Zone’s Stroke Ambulance – the first of its kind in Canada, is part of a research project examining pre-hospital assessment and treatment of Hyperacute ischemic stroke utilizing a custom-designed ambulance equipped with a portable CT scanner, videoconference capabilities, and portable laboratory analyzer (among other specialized equipment) and a unique, specialized multidisciplinary team. It is funded through the University Hospital Foundation.
