On 12/20 at 2251 hours, San Andreas Fire Dept units were dispatched to a possible fire in an abandoned motel in the Mirror Park neighborhood of Los Santos. SAFD responded with a first alarm assignment of Engines, 5, 3, 10, Truck 3, 10, Battalion Chiefs 2, 3, and Medic 64. Chief 1101 also responded. Truck 3 was the first to arrive to the 3 story abandoned building and the captain reported heavy smoke and fire. Lines were stretched to initiate the fire attack, but worsening conditions eventually forced units out of the building. A collapse zone was established when the building showed signs of instability. Hand lines and aerial master streams flooded the building with water until eventual extinguishment in the early morning hours. Medic 64 stood-by for EMS branch and there were no reported fire fighter or civilian injuries. The building is a complete loss.

Local Farmer Arrested in Harmony

HARMONY - A routine traffic stop conducted by Senora Valley Police Department turned into an arrest for a local farmer, Jim Pickens, who decided to take his new tractor for a spin. Senora PD officers allegedly stopped Pickens for driving under the posted speed limit, failure to display license plates, and failure to use a turn signal.
Pickens told the officers he was coming from a family picnic, and was on his way to see his mother in Grapeseed at the time of the traffic stop. Seeing that his vehicle did not have plates or proper blinkers, and was unable to reach the speed limit of the highway, officers accused the vehicle of being un-roadworthy. When this was mentioned to Pickens, he told the officers, "I'm sorry, I think I hit a tree or a kid, I can't remember". This prompted officers to request Pickens to exit the vehicle. What Pickens may or may not have hit is still being investigated.
What would have been a simple cite and release turned into an arrest when Pickens refused to step out of his vehicle, leading the officers to order him out at gunpoint. Upon exiting the vehicle, Pickens was cuffed and eventually searched by officers, where drugs and drug paraphernalia were recovered. Pickens was charged with obstruction, possession of drug paraphernalia, and possession of prescription Morphine that was not in his name. He was not under the influence of narcotics at the time of his arrest. He was also cited for impeding the flow of traffic, license plate display failure, and driving an un-roadworthy vehicle, as his tractor did not have proper blinkers or plates.
The tractor was impounded and handed over to the Blaine County Sheriff's Office's impound lot south of Sandy Shores.
